The Aces celebrate diversity and unity on-stage at El Club in Detroit, as part of the Waiting For You Tour

On March 6, 2019 fans were lined up in the cold along the side of the El Club in Detroit. The line extended down the block as people patiently waited for the doors to open to see The Aces. Detroit gave the Utah based band a very warm welcome as they emerged the stage. As the band went on stage the crowd cheered and yelled, the opening notes for their song Put In On The Line rung through the El Club followed by a chorus of fans singing along. The Aces’ tour all around has been nothing but high energy.

An honorable moment to mention at this show was when they played their song, Bad Love. In a previous interview the band wanted to talk about how “our differences are smaller than they seem, and we are capable of loving and having relationships with every person.” Bad Love talks about a secret love and how the pairing faces judgement when they are together. There is a deeper interwoven meaning to the fans who identify as a part of LGBTQ+ community, as a result the Ace Faces of Detroit waved around pride flags during this part of their set.

I can’t help it
The way I feel you in my bones
Don’t mind the judgement
You wrap me up when we’re alone

They don’t really need to know our business
They don’t really need to know what we do
They don’t really need to know where we go
When it’s just me and you
Got you touchin’ on me all in secret
Want you lovin’ on me all four seasons

Baby, tell me who we think we’re pleasin’
I wanna be with you

Baby, they don’t get us, never had this love before
I wish they know just how I felt, think they’d be ready to adore you
How could they call this bad love when all I want is more?
When all I want is more?

The band then ended their lively and memorable set with their song Stuck. Naturally the crowd sang along and waved their arms in the air in unison and jump around as the girls played, reflecting the energy of band. The final notes to the song rang out and the crowd yelled and cheered thus wrapping up the Detroit leg of the Waiting For You tour. The Aces are truly the embodiment of women who rock.
