Post Animal and local favorites The Duncan Fellows pack Barracuda in Austin

Austin’s music scene was hopping this Friday night as residents had to stumble to choose between the many kickass artists playing around town. Fred Armisen, Blood Orange, and John Maus were a few to name, but we steered our aim for the ultimate indie lineup at Barracuda.

The evening kicked off with local Austinites, The Duncan Fellows. This young crew hyped the crowd, and brought everyone to their feet. With each continuous song, the group exceeded their energy and showcased the best side of the Austin Indie scene.

Quickly following the opener, Post Animal took the stage. The atmosphere was buzzing as the band was greeted to a sold out venue. They spread themselves across the stage, placed their Lone Stars on the ground, and dug right in. As I stood in the crowd, I was immersed in an ambient, psychedelic fused set of prog and hard rock. Looking around, fans were in sync as they shared their love for the crew with their motions and whispering words.

Throughout the night, they delivered songs from their most recent album ‘When I Think Of You In A Caste’ as well as tunes from their past album and EP. They ended the set with an explosive performance of Dirtpicker before bidding their farewells and shuffling back into the artist’s lounge.

Although the set was brief, the band left me eager for their next trip around to the Live Music Capitol. Don’t miss out as the band travels east and continues on their US tour.
