An evneing of lively, passionate and engaging music with Atmosphere at Emo’s in Austin

Like any other form of art, music is a creative outlet artists turn to as a way to express their feelings. Unlike decades ago, it’s become more common for music to be distributed as a money driven product instead of an artistic creation. It now feels like a delicacy when you come across bands whom fill their words and harmonies with complete passion. With that being said, tuning into passionate artists like Atmosphere caters to the emotional needs of listeners and continues to prove how much value music can hold.

Wednesday night, I stood awestruck in a crowd of like-minded folks at a popular Los Angeles musical show who whispered the lyrics to every tune. From baby-boomers to millennials, the Minneapolis duo’s sound is diverse enough to attract a fanbase of nearly any age to the welcoming Emo’s venue in Austin, TX. Since their start in 1996, Sean Daley and Anthony Davis have released 9 albums that each display different styles and themes. Even after twenty-two years of performing, their energy level and enthusiasm has not waned; their liveliness was contagious.

The evening was comprised of a medley of old and new songs. They jammed their way through albums ‘Overcast!’ and ‘God Loves Ugly’, which kickstarted their career, and made way to their newest release ‘Mi Vida Local’. Atmosphere ended the show with a joint performance of ’Trying To Find My Balance’ featuring openers, Dem Atlas, The Lioness, and DJ Keezy.

Although I was sad to see them leave, Atmosphere delivered enough energy to keep me fulled for their next visit in town. Be sure to catch them as they wrap up their tour out west!
