The Supervillains bring a night of reggae to Austin’s Flamingo Cantina (with Bumlucky and AudicEmpire)

This was easily one of the funnest shows I have ever been to! Bumlucky and AudicEmpire, two local bands to the state of Texas, opened the show. They each had their own stage presence and put on a great show for the crowd. The venue, Flamingo Cantina, is a reggae bar in downtown Austin- It’s a pretty small yet spacious spot which made the venue seem cozy and more like it a giant party with good live music.

At midnight it was finally time for the Supervillains to come on, a rock reggae band from Florida. Although this is a planned tour and set list, the concert felt so personalized. It was custom to the city of Austin, and to us, the crowd. The audience was part of the experience, constantly interacting with the band members. They played classics like “Little Girl” and some of their more popular songs like “20 Excuses” they even covered “Where Is My Mind?” by The Pixies which was a huge hit amongst the crowd, and myself. At one point the band stopped for a second to move the drummer/vocalists’ drumset to face the crowd more. Not to mention, these guys are hilarious. I was constantly cracking up to myself listening to their banter in between songs. It was really cool to see them as playful friends, and for them to share that with everyone else. Feet were jumping, hips were swaying, and heads were bopping. If the Supervillains are ever in your area, you won’t regret going to see them.
