Parquet Courts fill the Hammsterstein Ballroom in New York City for a hometown show (with Sun Ra Arkestra)

Parquet Courts rocked the cavernous Hammerstein Ballroom last night in front of a very enthusiastic hometown crowd. They quickly led things off with several high energy songs from their new record, Wide Awake!, and continued at a strong pace throughout.

They’ve been touring in Europe and recently have swung back to the States. They’ll be taking a break for the rest of December, but then resuming in January. Tour dates are below.

The iconic Sun Ra Arkestra, formed following Sun Ra’s death in 1993 and previously led by tenor saxophonist John Gilmore opened the show with their heavily improvised, modal jazz.
