Bob Schneider spreads Christmas cheer during annual Holiday Show at ACL LIVE in Austin, Texas

For the past 14 years, the holiday shows given by local favorite, Bob Schneider, have gained quite the reputation among Austin audiences. Over time, these annual seasonal performances—which include both Valentines and Holiday shows— have surpassed that of just an average, everyday performance, and now rank up to a Texan holiday tradition.

We made our way out to Schneider’s annual, November 24th holiday performance at Austin’s famed Moody Theater. Unlike the folky-popstar’s typical performances, this evening presented more of a melancholy ambience as Schnieder was accompanied by Austin’s own Moonlight Orchestra. Also accompanying the beloved songwriter on several numbers were special guests; Lex Land, Steve Poltz, and Alesia Lani, who chimed in on both Christmas covers and Schneider’s own tunes.

The evening was set with bright red poinsettias, shimmering silver drapes, and a colorful evergreen tree as the Moonlight Orchestra opened up with a soft rendition of Vince Guaraldi Trio’s Christmas Time Is Here. As the crowd sat, absorbed in a stir of piano and string harmonies, Bob Schneider sauntered across the stage as the spotlight followed. He glanced around and greeted his devoted fans with a smile before grabbing the mic and joining the band. As the night carried on, the mixed audience of old and new devotee’s were swept away under the many awe-inspiring talents showcased across the stage.

Such an audience response shouldn’t come as a surprise. Schnieder’s fame dates back to the early 90’s, when he’d perform as a solo act, under the name of Lonelyland. Since these humble beginnings, he has released nearly twenty discographies including three, Billboard top 200 charting albums in 2009 (Lovely Creatures), 2011 (A Perfect Day), and 2013 (Burden of Proof).

If you’re out looking for a sense of comfort, emotion, and a night that’ll leave you in an everlasting, blissful state, don’t miss out as Bob Schneider continues his Blood and Bones tour through out Eastern and Central United States!
