Interview: Jeremy Zucker on his headlining tour, playing UNO and his new EP “summer”

Jeremy Zucker is a powerhouse artist – he sings, writes, and produces. Last time Jeremy was in Seattle he was opening up for Lauv. This time, he’s dropping by on his first headlining tour. Every single date sold out. Jeremy has been gaining traction quickly after his single “all the kids are depressed” went viral. We caught up with him before his show in Seattle.

Hi Jeremy! Thanks for chatting with us today. How is tour going so far?
Tour has been great so far! This show is about the midpoint of the tour; it’s going by so fast.

What’s it like having Carlie Hanson opening for you?
Carlie is the sweetest, funniest human ever. It’s been amazing having her on the road with us, and her set is a lot of fun.

I heard she smacked you in UNO. Are there any games you love playing during your off time? Are you super competitive or a more casual game player?
I was undefeated until we played UNO with Chelsea Cutler’s crew in Minneapolis, so you must’ve heard wrong! I’m only competitive if somebody challenges me. Besides UNO all we really do to pass the time is listen to music or watch Netflix.

Your EP summer, recently dropped. How does it feel to have that music out there?=
It feels good. It’s another part of my of my life in song-form. So it’s refreshing to close that chapter and start a new one.

You’re playing at The Crocodile in Seattle tonight. Back in January you were here opening up for Lauv; now you’re headlining a sold out show in the same venue. How does that feel?
Playing at The Crocodile again is a crazy feeling. When I played this venue with Lauv, it was the biggest show I had played at the time and the first on his tour. It definitely felt full circle being able to play and sell out the venue myself.

What has the growth in support been like for you?
It’s almost been overwhelming. I’m so lucky to have such supportive fans.

Final question – say you’re going on a road trip with your friends. They toss you the aux cord and put you in charge of music the whole time. What’s the first and last song you play?
“Africa” by Toto and “Africa” by Toto
