Kendrick Lamar, The Killers, Halsey, The Chainsmokers and more light up the Alabama coast at Hangout Festival

Tens of thousands of music lovers spent the weekend at Hangout Festival in Gulf Shores, Alabama. It was more than your average music festival, there were many things to do such as lay out at the beach, go for a swim, roller-skate, do yoga in the sand, enjoy great food, view the ocean from the ferris wheel, and much more. Over 100 concerts on eight stages throughout the weekend and there wasn’t a single act that you would want to miss out on.

Thursday

K. Flay kicked off the weekend Thursday night before severe thunderstorms hit canceling all other acts. While on the stage, she played her hit songs “Blood in the Cut”, “High Enough”, and Robert DeLong’s new song that she’s featured on, “Favorite Color is Blue”. Once the storms hit, the crowd started chanting they didn’t want to leave. They were disappointed to have to miss out on Phantogram, T. Pain, and more.

Friday

There were over 30 different artists playing at the various stages on Friday including Lovelytheband, Welshley Arms, Lauv, Portugal. The Man, Galantis, Zedd, The Killers and many more. Lovelytheband kicked off Friday morning playing their hit songs “Broken” and “These Are My Friends” out on the Beach stage. It rained during their set but that didn’t stop them from having a great time doing what they love with their fans.

Friday ended with The Killers playing at the Hangout Stage and everyone who was at the festival stayed late to see them. The Killers were the perfect end to the perfect first day.

Saturday

Saturday everyone was filled with joy to see artists like Halsey, The Chainsmokers, Awolnation, Bleachers, St. Vincent, and over 20 other incredible acts. It was an extremely hot and humid day but everyone was still happy to be packed together to see these talented musicians. Awolnation told the crowd to crowd surf during their set and sure enough many people in the audience managed to crowd surf up closer to the stage.

During her set, Halsey mentioned how she was so proud and at the same time jealous of The Chainsmokers for getting to be the closing act of the night, but later on she made a surprise appearance during The Chainsmokers set to sing their song “Closer” with them. The Chainsmokers had the entire crowd jumping and partying all night long.

Sunday

Alex Lahey kicked off Sunday on the Beach Stage where she played her hit song “Everyday is the Weekend”. This was her very first music festival to play and she and the audience both clearly had a great time. MAX played at the Mermaid stage towards the middle of the day. Right when his song “Lights Down Low” was about to start a young couple got engaged and he welcomed the girls up on stage to congratulate them. MAX was very excited for the couple and said that it was the first time someone had proposed at one of his concerts.

The Struts played a set on the Beach Stage and brought a fan out on stage to sing with them. Towards the end of the night, Foster the People played a set at Hangout Stage. Before their song “Sit Next To Me” they spoke up about all the gun violence and bullying in the world right now and had a very touching speech on how we need more love in this world. The whole weekend ended with Kendrick Lamar on Hangout Stage, a big fireworks show, and a very happy audience.

Hangout Fest 2018 was an insane weekend with lots of partying, singing, dancing, roller-skating, and all around fun. Set the date on your calendar ASAP for next year’s Hangout Festival.
