Moby performs songs from “Everything Was Beautiful, and Nothing Hurt” at Rough Trade in Brooklyn

Moby, who could certainly sell-out a much larger space, rocked out at Rough Trade last night with its capacity of around 250 people. The show emphasized his rock roots, putting a tougher and more guitar-oriented spin on some of his neo-soul work.

Opening with Mere Anarchy from his new CD (Everything Was Beautiful, and Nothing Hurt) he played several additional tracks from it including This Wild Darkness and Like a Motherless Child. He also played a number of fan favorites from his album Play, including Porcelain, South Side, and Why Does My Heart Feel So Bad? And there was a heavy cover of Willie Dixon’s (via Led Zeppelin) Whole Lotta Love.

He’s playing again at Rough Trade tonight.
