FIDLAR bring angst, guitars and confetti to the Fox Theater in Pomona, CA

Creating an apocalyptic wasteland composed of confetti, glistening electric guitars, and just the right amount of angst, FIDLAR brought their surf/garage/punk rock essence to Pomona, Calif. on a Saturday night. Though any new music releases have been hidden under the radar since the release of their sophomore album Too in 2015, FIDLAR’s fanbase has been growing and still as supportive as ever.

Too, described by Pitchfork as “a hormonal love letter to getting fucked up and fucking up,” may just embody the atmosphere of a FIDLAR show. The varied crowd consisted of a blend of different faces looking to either mosh, crowd surf, or simply chill with a beer and listen to some good music. “40oz. On Repeat” and “West Coast” marked the halfway point of the band’s set, and livened up an already energetic crowd.

By the end of the night, drinks were spilled, but the huge banner that spelled “FIDLAR” at the back of the stage still shined as bright as ever. Even throwing in a cover of Nirvana’s “Frances Farmer Will Have Her Revenge On Seattle” during the evening, FIDLAR concluded their set with “Wake Bake Skate.”

The mutual admiration between the band and their fans was a sight to see, and leaving without a worry on my mind, I knew this was a show I wouldn’t be forgetting any time soon.

FIDLAR are set to play Coachella on Sunday April 15-22.
