Tegan and Sara celebrate ten years of their iconic album “The Con” with a show at the State Theatre in Minneapolis

To celebrate the ten year anniversary of the iconic album “The Con,” Canadian alternative duo Tegan & Sara embarked on a special acoustic tour across North America, recently making a stop in Minneapolis, MN at the State Theatre. Not only did the duo set out on a 22 date tour, but they also worked with several other musicians and artists to create a tenth anniversary cover album to benefit the Tegan & Sara Foundation.

With “The Con” being my personal favorite Tegan & Sara album, I experienced a lot of excitement and anticipation walking into the State Theatre, and from overhearing the conversation of others around me, I could tell this was a shared experience. One of the best aspects of this tour is that there is not an opening band, making the show feel more intimate and personal.

Hearing “The Con” in full stripped down was an incredible experience, as it seemed to give the music and lyrics a different meaning and live experience in comparison to a full band performance. Even the trademark banter in-between songs felt more like a conversation in this setting, as Tegan & Sara would occasionally hear something said from the crowd and go into a story based off of that comment. The combination of having an acoustic tour and the easy connection Tegan & Sara have with fans while onstage, although they both admitted to being shy, made for an incredible and interactive experience.

11/08 – Brooklyn, NY @ Kings Theatre
11/09 – Boston, MA @ Orpheum Theatre
