The Weeknd arrives in Portland for a upbeat show (with Lil Panda, Nav, and Gucci Mane)

Last weekend, everyone’s favorite starboy arrived in Portland for his Starboy World Tour. The Weeknd aka Abel Tesfaye has undoubtedly become a pop-culture force in the past few years, and I was stoked to finally see him in Portland.

The night began early with three different openers from Lil Panda, to Nav, and lastly Gucci Mane. I expected Gucci Mane to have a better energy and show, but I have to say it was pretty uneventful. After that I was super ready to see what The Weeknd’s show had in store for us. Before he took stage a big spaceship-like prop lowered up and down, finally revealing him as it rose up.

There was also a long catwalk encompassing more than half the floor of the auditorium, adding to the impact of his presence. His performance did not disappoint, which was evident by the crowd’s response. I bet for him it’s pretty surreal hearing thousands of people sing along to his lyrics.
