Fifteen-year-old alternative pop artist Billie Eilish visits Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn on her first national tour

Fifteen-year-old alternative pop artist – Billie Eilish, performed at Baby’s All Right in Brooklyn Monday the 16th. This is Billie’s first tour, and with the recent release of her debut EP, don’t smile at me, she has gotten a lot of recognition. Her music explores darker more mature themes, which seems like something that would be out of a typical fifteen-year-old’s league. That’s what catapults Billie to another level. Her maturity and understanding of music puts her ahead of her time.

She is a product of recognition of pure talent. She serves as an inspiration to young artists, showing that regardless of age you can become successful with hard work and dedication. Monday night’s performance showcased her sheer talent and passion, and made it obvious as to why she’s been all that anyone can talk about right now.

The show was sold out, which became very evident as Billie’s set time approached. *Cue The Office theme song* Fans started cheering at the top of their lungs as Billie made her way to the stage. The energy from the crowd was intense, you could feel it all around you. Literally… body to body, no personal space. If you haven’t been to Baby’s, it’s really tiny. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever been to a show at Baby’s that was that packed.

As the night progressed Billie got more and more comfortable on stage. Her lax, cool and collected personality complimented the vibe of her music. She played several hit singles including bellyache and ocean eyes, while also hitting the fans with a few surprises. She performed a new song titled Listen. “So I’m going to play a new song for you guys. It’s all my thoughts in one so it’s kind of sad, but that’s ok.” In addition, she handed the stage over to her brother Finneas, who is currently on tour with her. “He’s going sing a song all by himself… and no this is not the time for you to be on your phone texting people, you’re going listen,” she said.

Throughout the show it became more evident of their duality, and Finneas’ presence made a noticeable difference in Billie’s confidence and comfort on stage. During hostage, Finneas came to the front of the stage with his guitar and sang along with Billie. During my boy, both Billie and Finneas simultaneously broke out into a synchronized dance, which in my opinion was a highlight of the night. The dynamic between her and her brother, reminded me of the sibling dynamic I have with my younger sister. In the moment it felt nostalgic considering my sister and I currently live really far apart, and haven’t seen each other in a couple of months. It also reminded that a sibling bond can be strong and like no other. It’s sort of this unspoken language. You both know that no matter what you have each other’s backs.

Overall Billie’s performance was fresh and exciting. I was thrilled to be able to see her perform. She definitely did not disappoint, and I am looking forward to hearing more from her in the near future. Billie is young, and she has a true, raw talent that is only just blossoming.
