The Knitting Factory gets all-ages and not-at-all-all-ages on the same bill with Mourn and Sloppy Jane

A night that ended with Spanish teenagers Mourn playing upbeat punk rock a few notches harder than early Paramore began with fully-naked Haley Dahl of Sloppy Jane crawling on the floor of the Knitting Factory.

Sloppy Jane

Mourn

Sloppy Jane, a collective based in New Jersey, have been making the rounds of Brooklyn venues, drawing big crowds and almost as many photographers. After stripping down and crawling off stage with blood smeared on her face, the band brough a wild, perplexing, 40-minute set of weirdo punk.

Formed in 2014, headliners Mourn are teenagers from Barcelona play authentic guitar rock reminiscent of eras before they were born. Self-described as “four nerds playing music and shit at the doors of hell,” the band is inspired by Echo & The Bunnymen and Hüsker Dü. They also recently covered the Replacements’ “Color Me Impressed,” giving it a crisp, riff-heavy spirit.
