Against The Current get personal at intimate show in Detroit, MI with Beach Weather and CRUISR

Alternative band, Against The Current ended the North American leg of their tour in Detroit, MI. Multiple of dedicated fans lined up in the freezing cold to watch this band perform alongside their supporting acts, Beach Weather and CRUISR.

The night started off with Beach Weather, followed by CRUISR and then finished off with the one and only Against the Current that consists of Dan Gow on guitar, Will Ferri on drums and Chrissy Costanza on the powerful leading vocals. Throughout the course of their performance every one was energized and singing along to the songs.

This show was one of the most intimate shows I’ve ever been to, not only because of the basement capacity but because of the chemistry the Costanza had with the audience. She told stories of how the songs became to be and how the record was made. She gave us an insight on her thoughts along with how she felt during the process of writing each song in the record.

Briefly before the band performed their song “In Our Bones” they shined a light on the meaning behind this song. They went in depth and shared a very positive and personal message with the crowd. Costanza talked about the hard times in her life personally and their struggles as a band. She then later related it to each individual letting them know that it’s okay to hurt and to have struggles, but it’s how we come out of it is what makes us stronger. She told the audience to never give up on their dreams and aspirations no matter how many people turn you down and no matter how many people be little you because of it. This speech brought a wave of emotions towards each individual, including myself.

Against The Current put on quite the memorable show and I for one am glad that I ended 2016 with their music ringing through my ears.
